Writing Rules

Language: Turkish, English, Arabic
The language of the journal is Turkish, Arabic and English.
Types of Articles: research, case report and translated articles.
Author Change: Only processed before the article is accepted. Authors are required to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the final author list at the time of original submission.

Writing Rules
1- The articles submitted to the JSS must be organized according to the citation system (ISNAD Footnoted Citation System, 2nd Edition), article template (Template) and writing rules. Articles not complying with the journal's writing rules and article template will not be evaluated.
2- Our journal is published as open access twice a year, on April 30th and October 30th. Manuscript submissions are accepted year-round..
3- JSS is open to scientific studies in all fields of Social and Human Sciences related to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Submitted articles must be appropriate to the purpose and scope of the journal. Otherwise, it will not be taken into preliminary review.
4- Original, unpublished manuscripts that are not in the evaluation process in another journal and whose content and submission have been approved by each author are accepted for evaluation. Only one article by the same author in the same publication period is processed.
5- Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to the journal's website in DergiPark via the "Submit Manuscript" tab. All documents and files must be submitted as Word documents (.doc or .docx). There is no word limit for manuscripts.
6- In the first submission, the imprint information of the authors should be included in the text. Name-surname, title, institution, field, e-mail, telephone number, and ORCID and ROR ID numbers should be mentioned.
7- Submitted articles should include a 250-300 word abstract in Turkish and English that reflects the content of the study in a holistic manner and at least five keywords in Turkish and English. The first keyword must be the name of the relevant field of science (For example, Islamic History, Siyer, Weapons, Assault Weapons, Sword). The introduction and titling system should not be neglected. The English abstract should not be created solely by using online translation programs; attention should be paid, especially to the common English equivalents of field terms. The Brill Encyclopedia of Islam can be used for English transliteration of such terms.
8- Double Blind Review: Manuscripts that are evaluated by the editor in terms of originality, methodology, importance of the topic covered and compatibility with the scope of the journal are checked for plagiarism. After the preliminary review, they are sent to the field editor. The field editor ensures that the manuscripts undergo double-blind review fairly and submits them to evaluate at least two referees. If necessary, the article may be sent to a third referee.
9- Publication Decision: If the referees deem it necessary, changes should be made by the author to the submitted text. The Editorial Board decides whether or not to publish the edited monograph. Depending on the intensity of article submissions, an article that has been approved for publication may not be published in the current issue.
10- All articles not complying with the accepted ethical standards are removed from publication. This includes articles containing possible irregularities and nonconformities detected after publication.
11- Permanent Article Identifier: DOI is assigned as a permanent article identifier to all articles for which a publication decision is taken.
12- Published articles are digitally archived in LOCKSS. The LOCKSS system has permission to collect, protect and provide this access to the Archive Unit.
13- For articles that require Ethics Committee approval, Ethics Committee approval must be obtained, and this approval (name, date and number of the committee) must be stated on the first page of the article and in the method section (Please review the Ethical Principles and Publication Policy of the Journal).
14- The Publisher covers all expenses of the journal. The publication of articles in the journal and the execution of article processes are not subject to any fee. Copyright is paid for articles accepted for publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Authorship and Contribution
Authorship should be limited to those who made significant contributions to the conception, design, conduct or interpretation of the study. All significant contributors should be listed as co-authors. If there were minor contributors to the study, e.g. language editing, they should be acknowledged in the acknowledgements section. The corresponding author should make sure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication. Authors are expected to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and to provide the final author list at the time of original submission. Only in exceptional circumstances will the editor consider the authors' addition, deletion or rearrangement after the manuscript has been submitted. All authors must agree to any such addition, deletion or reorganization. Authors take joint responsibility for the work.

Requests for the Author Change
Additionally, withdrawal or rearrangement of author names in the author list can only be made before the manuscript is accepted and only if approved by the journal editor.
If such a change is requested, the Editor will request from the responsible author (a) the reason for the change in the author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail) from all authors that they agree to the addition. Only in exceptional cases will the editor consider the authors' addition, withdrawal, or reorganization after the article has been accepted.

Article Writing
Authors of original research papers should address the topic in an original way and with an objective discussion. The paper should include sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or consciously false statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality
The author must ensure that the article is original, has not been previously published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere in another language.

Using Original Sources and Citation
Authors should ensure that they are writing entirely original work and, if they have used the work or words of others, that it is properly cited. Privately obtained information, such as in conversations, correspondence or discussions with third parties, should not be used without the express written permission of the source.

Data Access and Preservation
Authors may be asked to provide research data supporting their articles for editorial review and/or to comply with the journal's open-access requirements. Authors should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if possible, and to retain such data for a reasonable period after publication. The journal recommends uploading research data to TUBITAK's Aperta Portal.

Multiple and Simultaneous Publication
An author should not publish the same research article in multiple journals. It is unethical to submit the same article to more than one journal at the same time. An author should not submit a previously published article for consideration in another journal except those published in the abstract books.

Publication of Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews
For research in all disciplines that require ethics committee approval, ethics committee approval must be obtained; this approval must be stated and documented in the article. In research requiring ethics committee approval, information about the approval (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the method section, as well as on one of the first/last pages of the article; in case reports, information on the signing of the informed consent form should be included in the article.

Conflict of Interest
Any financial or other interest that may cause the person to be conflicted in his or her work, significantly impair his or her objectivity, or provide an unfair advantage in favor of any person or organization is considered a conflict of interest. All sources of financial support received during the research and preparation of the manuscript and the role of sponsors in the study should be disclosed. If there is no source of funding, this should also be indicated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that should be disclosed include consultancies, salaries, and grants. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage.

Error Reporting
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her published work, he/she should notify the journal immediately. It is also the author's obligation to cooperate in withdrawing or correcting the manuscript if deemed necessary by the editor. If the editor or publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains errors, it is the author's obligation to cooperate with the editor.

Graphic Integrity
Enhancing, darkening, moving, removing, or adding a specific feature to an image is unacceptable. Authors must adhere to the policy for graphic images implemented by the journal.
